The Great Tree Search

As is tradition, the Saturday after thanksgiving we headed to the woods to search out the perfect Christmas tree.  This year we were blessed with a beautiful day and the warm weather make the trek much nicer.  After climbing hills and searching high and low, we found our tree.
The boys were big helps in cutting it down and carrying it back to the truck.

After everyone had found their tree, we found a safe place away from other people so the men could shoot their guns.  We had planned on hot chocolate and donuts until we realized we had forgotten the propane for the burner to heat water.  The guys went ahead and started shooting while the girls and I decided that we really needed some cocoa to accompany the donuts.  So we dug a fire pit, line it with rocks, and rounded up some dead branches.  We got a nice fire going to heat the water.  After long we were sipping hot cocoa to our hearts content.  We enjoyed a nice day of beautiful weather, great company, and lots of fun.
