Start of Summer

Summer break has begun!  Thursday was the last day.  Here's a few things we've done to celebrate.
First we said goodbye to the teachers and took them little thank you gifts.
Caleb and Mrs. Green
Ethan and Mrs. Creer (too bad she is retiring this year because she was an amazing teacher)
Nathaniel and Mrs. Painter
We said good bye to Rees Elementary.  They are building a new school 3 blocks from our house and we will start there this fall.  We have loved Rees but it will be nice to have the school so close and with no busy roads to cross.  Next year we will be Sierra Bonita Bears.
On that last day of school they feed the kids lunch at 10:30, so my boys opted to just enjoy extra recess time and when they got out at noon we all went out for pizza at our favorite place - Two Jacks Pizza.  We love their food, plus the owners are in our ward so that's an added bonus.  After lunch we went to a park to let the boys fish and play.  I got to lay on a blanket and read so yea for me.
Friday night I brought up the idea of having a campout in the backyard, so after some burgers and shakes we set up the tent and got ready.  We had enough blankets that we stayed toasty even though it was pretty cold outside.  It was a fun time.
We are working on getting a sewing machine moved to our house so I can sew from home while the kids are out of school.  And I am just trying to come up with enough fun ideas to keep the kids busy all summer.  Now we just need the sun to decide to stick around a little more.
Hurray for lazy mornings, picnics, fishing, playing at the park, camping, backyard campfires, late night family movie nights, swimming, reading, art projects, science experiments, bike rides, and all the other fun things summer brings.
