Hunting and Parties

Friday we decided to take a quick family outing to Benjamin's hunting area. So we packed up and headed out after work on Friday. The boys were excited to "help" their dad find a big elk. We left later than planned and didn't arrive at camp until after dark. (we won't mention the friendly visit on the side of the road with a nice man in uniform) We quickly went about building a fire and setting up the tent. In traditional manner, we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, then enjoyed relaxing around a nice campfire. The kids were so excited to get to bed, I'm not sure if it's because they couldn't wait for the morning hunt or because they were scared of the dark. We got everyone up at 6 and hit the mountain in our quest for a "elk with huge antlers" (in the words of the boys). We had a great time roaming the hills and letting the kids tryout their elk calls. The funny thing is that we saw a hunter sneaking in on us, I think the kids actually had him fooled. The weather was perfect for camping and the kids were in their element. The only bad part was that I actually took the camera this time only to find that there was no memory card in it (URG!). Oh well, we'll get it next time.
We had to come home early afternoon to attend a friend's little girl's birthday party. After filling up on cake and ice cream, we went to hang out at Salem Pond for a while and let the boys do some fishing. They ended up mostly chasing the minnows instead but oh well. They were happy.
Saturday night we went to a surprise party for one of our friend's 30th birthday. He had to work until 8:30, so we all hid in the party lot near his truck and when he came out, we yelled "surprise!" (of course what else would you yell?) Then we went to Coasta Vida for dessert. Benjamin had Tres Leche (which is basically soggy cake, not my thing), and I got Key Lime Pie. We got a baby sitter so it was nice to spend a little time just the 2 of us.
What else? Caleb started school on Wednesday, he loves it. I told him that he goes to school after lunch so all morning he asks "can we eat lunch now?" We went to Back to School night and got the low down on homework and such. We attended an Elders Quorem BBQ that looked like a ward party there it was so well attended. It was nice to meet more people in the area. We are starting to say goodbye to puppies. We have sold 4 so far. If you need a good dog give us a call,there's only 5 left.
